Ok, so I just checked my gig calendar and untill halfway through november I counted a total of 66 gigs!! Oh man this is crazy! But guess what, I'm playing vibes in almost al of those gigs!

I really feel bad not being on the site that much lately, but I'm just so f'n busy... Unfortunately it's not all standards/jazz stuff so I have to try to work on that when I get time in between....

Anyway, I'll keep you guys posted on stuff.

So the TOTM I think has proven to be a little difficult for some of you guys. Seems like a couple people are keeping up, but not more than that.

That's ok, even if this gets you to really learn the melodies or the chords, it's a good thing. I think what's important here is that you guys know that it takes work to do this, and keep all that in mind. Then just do the best you can when it comes to learning tunes.

I'm going to wrap this one up in the next lesson and then we can decide whether to pick another tune or not.

Today I was trying to commit Girl from Ipanema to memory and realized that, for vibes, the key of Bb is much better than the key of F.

Hey Guys I was just in Italy and played on this Bergerault Vibraphone. I believe its a french company. Anyone heard of them?
The vibraphone was REALLY quiet and had a very dull sound. Although I bet alot of that had to do with my mallets, I think the larger head mallet just did not work with those bars.

Did a duet with myself today for fun.

You guys should try it! It's fun and it's a challenge.

sometimes I use a click track and sometimes I don't. On this version I had a simple samba beat playing in the background.

I HATE taking pictures. Hate hate. I was looking for a professional photographer, but I can't stand the process. So I borrowed a good camera, my wife has a good eye and I'm trying to do this the cheap AND easy way!

Anyway I had to do a stupid shot for her. One of my favorites actually.
