This is my third shot at getting the music up on the site. It is Bryan Carrott accompanying Fathead Newman on a very famous jazz tune. See if you can guess it.

I was going through some old finale files and came across some charts i did for a recording project in 1999 called "April Sessions"
This session is special to me because the pianist on this record, Bobby Peterson, was a local treasure - a brilliant player who spent time in Buddy Riches band and then made the Twin Cities his home - and performed here regularly. Sadly we lost him July 8, 2002 at the age of 52 to a heart condition - (he was packing up after a gig when we lost him).

Hi everybody ! Of late, we've been looking at some "historic" European vibes players, namely Michel Hausser, Wolfgang Schlüter, Dany Doriz. Nothing has been said yet about Tubby Hayes (1927-1973). Not only was Tubby a powerful fiery tenorman, but he also doubled in brass on flute as well as on vibes. I found no video of him playing vibes, but here are two audio tracks. Whisper not , and Autumn Leaves, by the "Jazz Couriers", formerly co-led by Ronnie Scott and Tubby Hayes. This music was recorded in London in 1959. I think it was by far the best jazz to come out of Europe at the time.

A signature is something that will reside at the bottom of all your posts. You can set up your own signature with a link to your site, myspace page, cd, whatever. It's great because if you right something that someone else digs, they will most likely go to your site and learn more about you.

Everyone should use a signature!

To set up your signature, click on 'My Account' once you've logged in. Scroll down and you should see where to enter your signature.

Then when ever you leave a post your signature will automatically be appended onto the post.

My schedule is one where I'm constantly bouncing off walls and running all over the place. It's way too much but it's what I have to do to survive. As a result I forget things, and don't check things.

Please don't think that if I don't check something out that means I don't dig it. Check in with me always!

Here is a simple exercise for brushing up on triads and also good for technique!

Step 1. Play any triad (ex. F)
Step 2. Take the 3rd of that triad and begin a new triad based off of that note!
Example: First triad is F then second triad is an A triad.
Step 3. Take the 3rd of the 2nd traid and build a triad off of that note.
Example: Second triad is A then 3rd triad is C#(Db).
Step 4. The next triad in the series would be the same as the first triad so you are back to the beginning! (ex. F) So just continue for another octave and then start a new triad!
