My new book!

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let all of you know that I have a new book out! It's titled "Sight-Reading Skills for the Mallet Percussionist" and it's published by K. Wylie Publications. For those of you who don't know me, I teach at multiple schools with students from 6th grade up through university. This is a project I've been working on a long time and it's finally finished.

I hope you will forgive the shameless plug, but I thought I'd let everyone know. Here's a link for it:

An Interesting 4 Mallet Exercise

This is a transcription of Bach's 2 part invention no. 13. The range has been adjusted to 3 octaves so it can be played on vibes and marimba. Both parts are 90% arpeggios, so using 4 mallets will make it easier to execute the lines. You can download the manuscript [HERE]

Note to Tony: How about allowing uploads of pdf files on video posts so I don't have to keep putting in these external links to the manuscript?

Dick Richardson

You probably don't know much about Dick Richardson, who passed away last week. He is the guy who built Musser into a major company.  Dick bought the Musser Company from Claire Musser back in the 50s sometime, when the company typically was selling about 50 vibraphones each year.

Our New Library

I just set up a new library. Remember our old one? The thing about the software we use is that we're at the mercy of the open source drupal community. The last library we had set up used a module that pulled in all the Amazon info for a product. Now we have a new module but for technical reasons we have to build back the library.

So all you jazz vibe veteran subscribers consider posting a review or 2 a week to help all the new vibes players on the site build their vibe library and learn.
