i tried to take more risks and play it faster than on the video version. the head arrangement is almost the same. i listen a lot to tonys version...and the more i tried the more i adore tony for his 4 mallets, fast playing solo vibes skills.
some things worked out cool on this version some suck...like always...

it seems we forgot a very cool version with the singers...maybe because we don´t expect him to sing jazz.
i like this version because it´s so simple and clear.

hey again,
Another practise I like to do is to take some chords I like from a tune and create different melodies. This is also a one take theme and solo and the reason I do this is because I sometimes want to practise like in a live situation!!

this is some spontaneous ideas played in the vibes. it's one take only so forgive about the "mistakes". I generally believe in the one take solo because it's the real you...(you know what I mean). I like to study tunes like that. Also I like to put different melody in tunes or the other way around. Toy can learn a lot from that.
If you like it post (it feels like facebook hahahah)
thanks

Hi everyone,
Please join Tony and I on Saturday at 2pm (eastern standard, US) for the online class which covers our new TOTM, How Deep Is The Ocean.
Even if you don't feel like you know this tune well, find a recording/lead sheet of it and join us anyway! This is a great opportunity to get insight into this tune, and we're hoping that this class will promote more participation from the members of the site.
As you all know, this site can only exist if we all participate and inspire each other! Hopefully, we will see you there!
Best,
Behn
Here is an introduction to our new TOTM, How Deep Is The Ocean. In this lesson, you'll get a basic framework of the harmony. Also, check out the videos Tony posted for the melody, and familiarize yourself with it.
Also, please join us for the class on 1-19-13 at 2pm on livestream. Tony and I will be going into detail about the tune. Even if you don't know it well, don't be shy! Join us, and we promise you will have a better understanding of it!
Alright...it's been two months since I posted any progress on transcribing Burton's solo on Afro Blue and I'm going to post because I need some motivation. I've been working on it on and off, but winter break and traveling for work put a big damper on getting anywhere with this.
Today I decided to record what I have. It's crazy that this is actually double the length of the last time I recorded, because I feel like I've hardly gotten anywhere, and there's still a full minute to transcribe! Aargh!!!
BUT I will soldier on, because it will all be worth it in the end!!!
check this out!
