One year ago I was having in my mind to create a combo where the vibes would take an important place, with my dream of maybe in the future be able to play with 4 mallets…..
In January I subscribed to the site (took me one month and a half to understand how to use it ! :-)), and I started to work as much as possible during every minute of my spare time.
Hello everyone,
Hey guys,
I got some more video that someone shot at my last trio gig, and was able to marry it with a clip I took with my phone for a slick "two-camera" production. Ha ha, pretty neat.... but what's crazy is that in low light, the iPhone video looks almost as good as the stuff from his two-thousand dollar DV camera.
Thanks to all for the nice comments on the last one, hope u enjoy!

Barryk sent me a musser on Craig's list for $1000 dollars. It was for sale in Pennsylvania, my home state. I went to scoop it up. It needed some work the ad said. Ok, I'd buy it and fix it up and then work something out with a great student of mine. My goal was not to make a profit, but just have an instrument for when a student needed one. I have one student that's now looking for an instrument.
So I emailed the guy, told him I promised it would go into good hands and be put to good use. If he cared about the instrument than I was the guy to sell it to.
My interpretation on solo marimba of Eric Clapton's deep and powerful song Tears In Heaven. Clapton's version on his Unplugged recording is very special. Also, there is a beautiful verson by Kenny Werner on his recording Form and Fantasy.
A new solo marimba clip of Ennio Morricone's Love Theme from the movie Cinema Paradiso. A beautiful melody from Morricone. I first heard this song from a fantastic recording of Joe Locke that features movie themes. Every track is a gem on the CD. On this clip, I play the theme and improvise a bit while periodically weaving in the theme of the composition.
Your last assignment for the semester:
Pick an etude out of the Friedman: Dampening and Pedaling book and post it here. David Friedman will comment on your posts.
@Harvey - What's the due date?
Ok, let's close this up. There are a lot of lessons now about chords and harmony. For those of you who studied I'm sure you learned a ton.
So now demonstrate it. Work on a tune for a couple days and post something. Play chord melody, play solo, whatever but put it to good use and apply it while it's fresh.
Let's move on to the other side of all this and that's the line.
Post your 'final' here!
Very Interesting speech and very nice music (as usual with Gary !).
