Here is Morten Grønvad from Danemark... smooooking!! :o)
Morten is a member here as "Mogreen". I hope he comes around more often and share with us!
If you take a lot at his hands, you might notice he's using the Mainieri Pinky grip... Never saw anyone except the master himself being at ease with it!! Wow!!
Hi vibes people, i wanted to share some music from a great bass player from the south of Chile (Concepción), I had the chance to be on his debut album, and for the session there was a lovely uniform bar Studio 49 (i presume from the mid nineties or maybe older). I've had a bit of experience with several Studio 49s before at school, yet they were very old and really beaten up. They have the best pedal ever, and the craftsmanship is, well... german. Just though i'd chime in with what matters most, the sound, so here it is:
Listen to this Romanian vibist, in a beautiful rendition of Richard Galliano's Laurita. Great clear sound and technique (tasty bended notes in the first head). Enjoy !
i tried the same what tony did, cause i thought it´s a good practice. make a short tune playalong and try to solo and comp. if you like go along with me. i suck a bit on the head but if you comp the sh** out of it maybe nobody will notice :)
This piece is the 1st movement from Bach's violin sonata # 1. There's lots of opportunity for mallet dampening. The goal is to get it to sound full and resonant, but very clean. As you move from chord to chord use good dampening and/or pedaling to make sure no notes from the previous chord ring into the current chord; making it sound sloppy.
The tempo is really slow, with an 8th note set to about 50 on the metronome. A pdf of the manuscript is included HERE
Hey guys and gals! This is an audio clip from a recital I did recently. Whaddya think? Hope you dig it!
