Hi everybody, While still recovering from a pretty hard blow that hit me last month, I thought I would try my hand at singing, thinking it would be easier than wielding the mallets. But it's not. You don't realise it as long as you are in shape. Anyway, I sent the mp3 over to Tony. Tony says "You must post this. everybody will love it" (hem hem). So, if the boss says so, I'll comply. Do you think with a blonde wig and a white suit on, and leaning on the hood of a Bugatti, I might get away with it ?

I've spent the last few months learning "But Not for Me" and finally I made a recording of myself. It's a three track recording.

The first track I recorded was the ride cymbal track. The second was the main vibraphone track (with the melody and solo). The third was the extra comping track. You'll hear the difference because one vibes track is panned to the left and the other is panned to the right.

Here are some exercises I was working on the other day. You can stick them into your improvs as vehicles to get from one point to another nicely and create a bit of excitement and change. The first one is one creates the dimished scale but the rest are quite different. I call them "interval scales". After you do them with the half step between each other interval, go back and replace the half step with a whole step, then again with a minor third, Fourth etc...

It's also good for ear training on intervals.
