This is likely to be old news for most on the site but hopefully helpful for those who haven't worked through these yet. I don't think I mentioned very clearly that you can replace the fifth of each voicing with the 6th for more color or variation.
The Vibesworkshop videos are now available on Android phones. The app has the same functionality as the Roku app, so see http://www.vibesworkshop.com/video/vibesworkshopcom-roku-now-available/… to see how it works.
The app is available for free in the Android Market, just search for "vibes". Any feedback/problems, post here or e-mail me. Enjoy!

Guys,
My little year of Vibes lessons seem so far away... some 8 years ago... Having no instrument at home of course gave no results, but I remember those moments I would spend on the concert hall, alone on stage... not only practicing the required excercices (hum...), but also "messing around" with the bars...
Here is the only thing I have from that period... a little lullaby... which today has its perfect tittle: John Daly, ain't you a bit my brother now, as happy owner too of a Premier? ;-)

PS: I should also call that tune Brother Patrice, right? ;-)
Dear all,
This day is a very special day for me. After nearly 23 years and a few long weeks of expectation, this morning I finally came to that incredible thing of getting myself… a vibraphone!!
what will the changes be to modify my current lighweight framework for, my YV2700 Yamaha vibes, incorporate for futher breakdown?
Because of the numerous inquiries, Joe Cifelli, machinist, and I have been reviewing the possibilities of modifying my current lightweight bottom frame work component, for further breakdown. We are considering as follows:
(a) Release each of the side panels from the current attached bottom cross-arms (with the main braces).
(b) Using these crossarms, develop a sturdy support component, with the main braces, and welded for carrying strength. And, to develop a new sliding "mortice" type bracket for firm attachment during reassembly.
Ok here's a video on the etude: Holyhell937. I perform it and I talk about it.
I hope someone else tries to play this, misery loves company!
Here's the link with the actual lesson and pdf:

This is a beautiful lesson by friedman. Wait until you hear this solo! It's an incredibly melodic solo, which is the point of the lesson. So Watch: Lesson: Learn! And if you have any questions, ask David!
I have been away for a few days, came back to the workshop and watched the Branford Marsalis video and it still moves me. I read through all the posts and had the feeling that it is time to open up a new thread as too many topics are tumbling through oneanother within the original post...
Before covering the actual topic of my post, I'd like to say, that I am 90% behind Marsalis! Okay, he is being very provocative here, but hey I think he has a point.
