This is a clip from the jazz workshop i presented in Honolulu, Hawaii this February. the youths in the workshop are from a very talented Middle School Percussion ensemble and really soaked up the concepts .. One of the student just enrolled in skype lesson from my studio in oregon ..we plan on moving to Honolulu in february of 2015 ...

i don't want to translate all my (german) notes, but to summarize it:
- swing phrasing should be better
- be careful of pushing the time
- often to many notes
- calm down.
I hope i can get some good advices from all of you.

I'm continuing with the theme of ostinatos, using our TOTM "Footprints". No melody in this, just a left handed ostinato, with some upbeat chord colors in the right. The etude is supposed to have a drone-like effect. Enjoy!
