Moon River by Randy Sutin

I was asked, for obvious reasons, to play this on my gig last night. Had to do a quick and dirty chart, which was kinda lame... so tonight, while practicing, I was working out something a little more coherent. It's not fully baked and not so good recording, but in deference to Andy, I thought I would share it just for the handful of us who remember.

Peace

Familistérioso by Illya Amar trio + Nguyen Lê

Hi guys.
I would like to share this piece that I wrote called Familisterioso. The band features vibes, cello and bass clarinet + the guitar from master Nguyen Lê for the occasion. The challenge was to put together some very acoustic instruments in a classical sound and the overdrive of the lead Guitar. Another way to put the vibe in a crossover style.

Du Jazz dans le Ravin - Serge Gainsbourg (feat. M. Hausser)

This morning French vibist Benoit Moerlen made me discover this jazz album that Serge Gainsbourg composed in 1958. And oh surprise, there is vibes on a few tracks!! That one is my favorite: "Jazz In the Ravine". On vibes, one of are veterans Michel Hausser! :o)
Enjoy!

ps: trivia question: beside the excellent quality of this piece, I noticed a little surprising detail... maybe it's me. Maybe you will have the same feeling... Anything you'd have to say?

Need to survey K-12 music teachers from outside the US...

Hey everyone,

A friend of mine is having trouble with an assignment she got in grad school, and I think some of you can help. She has to survey public school music teachers (K-12, not collegiate) from outside the US, but the trouble is she only has two international connections, so she asked me to help.

So...if you or someone you know teaches music in a public school in any country other than the US (including Canada!) and are willing to help, email me at c.stallard22@gmail.com. It's a short survey, I promise! Thanks :)
