TOTM - Just In Time - Easy Solo Etude by Tony Miceli

Ok, here's two easy etudes over the tune Just In Time.

Play through the chords then listen to this solo. Make sure the tune is in your head! You should hear the tune easily in the lines. I wrote the chords in on the chord etude. You write them in on the Solo etude. Play the etudes. Can you learn anything from playing them? Can you see how the lines fit in with the harmony? How in the line you can hear the harmony?

Carolyn's Transcribing Blog: Life Without Vibes

Hey vibesworkshop!

So...I haven't been getting very far with my transcription of Afro Blue because I don't have a vibraphone to play for ten days and haven't had anything to update my blog with. It's frustrating not having my instrument...I feel incomplete. I am grateful to have access to a piano at work though and have been staying late to play (and then freezing in the dark waiting for the late bus home each night!), but man I miss my vibes. Just ten days, and I'm going crazy!!!

Improv Concepts Clinic Presentation - Ed Saindon

Hello everyone, here's a videoclip from a clinic on improvisation that I presented at Berklee (last summer) for the Summer Program faculty. The topics covered Tension Resolution, Four Note Groupings and Major 7th #5 Superimposition. The clip features David Clark on bass and myself on piano playing written out solos (that can be viewed/downloaded from here: http://allthingsvibraphone.blogspot.com/2011/07/improv-concepts-by-ed-s…) based on each of those specific improv concepts.
