Hi all,

I've been in to this tune lately. Many people play it in Eb, but I play it in Db. I think the original version from the Willy Wonka movie was sung in Db. In fact, sometimes I think keys can be very powerful. When I hear this tune in Eb, it sounds ok, but the spirit of it really comes out in Db to my ears at least. I think certain keys have a vibe! That's why I generally don't like to play tunes in just any key, some melodies just have the right key! Any thoughts on that!? Anyway, enjoy!

There was a bit of talk about the lyrics to standard/show tunes. Some felt it was important to be aware of them when playing and improvising on them. Some didn't, myself included . These are the kinds of lyrics I like. Check Michael out. He recorded all the tracks himself and it grooves like crazy!!!

I just found this on youtube. I really dig this band, and the bass player Tony Marino is such a mo' fo'. Todd is a great percussionist and I of course I think the world of Diane Monroe!

Had to throw this together for a couple possible cool gigs. So I thought I'd post it.

I love this duo and it's a real challenge as it comes together! I love playing with a bass player and I love playing without a bass player. I love trying to make it all happen without the conventional instruments and setting.

Feel free to make fun of the shirt. Why I wore a shirt like that and videoed it i will never know. I'm not sure if music is my thing, but I KNOW video is not!!!!! However knowing how to get some stuff done is cool and helps get the gigs!
