All about my week at the Aebersold Jazz Camp/Workshop

“this one time, at band camp….”

I got home last night after spending a week at the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Workshop. While this is fresh in my mind, I thought someone may find value if I wrote about it and posted it here.

The first part is a talks about the format of the camp, the second is my personal take on the class, and a few suggestions that may make it easier if you are ever considering going.

New M55 Yay! But.....

I received my new M55 today. I am very happy. My University has a really old M55. Comparing the new one to the old one I am really happy. Musser basically took all the small things that could have been improved and improved on them! I am really happy with this vibraphone.

However, Shipping damaged the Motor controller. It is hanging there =/ And the off light is smashed. So I will have to get them to replace that.

When the damper bar is up, there is the slightest ring in my high notes "Ab and Bb". How do I get rid of that slight ring?

Who is Chick82?

Hey Chick82!

You joined us some 2 months ago as subscriber and we quite often see you online. You even had the nice thought of wishing Tony a happy birthday on the chat... But we don't hear much from you... hardly a comment, no post...

I can see that you're living in Italy. Can you tell us more about you?.... Please!! :o)

i try to get rid of my own cliches and try to get some sort of "new" aspects to my playing. this kind of solo i would never play on a reharsel or gig but i think it´s important to play some wiered stuff sometimes, to get used to the sound and if even just 1 or 2 small ideas of a 10 minutes solo work out ok or good you get something out of it.
3 main things i tried on this practice tape:
1) try to keep an idea once you established it
